After watching the videos on Language and Reading, how does this information impact you as a teacher?
Reading and the verbal language is such an important part of learning. If they can't read hear it's will be hard if not impossible to learn without other accommodations. So often students don't know that they can't see or hear. What they have is just normal to them.

After watching the videos on Math and Music, how does this information impact you as a teacher?
Music has a powerful effect on people. It can quickly change your mood and can convey information quickly. As someone that is pursuing a career in secondary education. I have realized that music can convey the culture and the history in a way that no other medium can.

What does it mean to be relational as a teacher? How will you interact with your students to accomplish this?
There is an old phrase people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. You can have high standards and high expectations but until they know that you have their best interest at heart they often aren't motivated. From my limited experience teaching is a sales job. You're selling a lifestyle you're selling a college education. In sales, you have the first 7 seconds when people are making up their mind to listen to you. Sales isn't logical it's all about relationships and a whole lot of trust. I think that education is similar. They are trusting you that a middle-class lifestyle is all that it's cracked up to be. That if I follow the class curriculum that I will understand the content.
After watching the videos on Attention, Emotions and Learning, describe how this information impacts you as a teacher.
In the attention video, it's important to know that just because a student is in the classroom and may even be looking at you. That doesn't mean that they're paying attention. To counter this the book Teach iLke A Champion says that you should do cold calling. Say the question first to keep everyone's attention and then say the students name.

After watching the videos on Vision and Hearing, describe how this information impacts you as a teacher.
I am going into secondary education I understand it's important to do screening early on. But the important thing is that hearing is very sensitive and students can damage their hearing at an early age. Sometimes when students have their earphones in I can still hear the music. This is a sign that it's just way too loud. They need to understand the consequences of this decision and that it can damage their hearing.
Poor eyesight might be the cause of poor reading or poor note taking notes from information on the blackboard. Students might not realize how poor their vision is. So teachers need to look for students that turn their head or squint when looking at the information.

After watching the videos on brain architecture, plasticity, and understanding the impact of the environment on a child, how does this information impact you as a teacher?
Children who come from high-stress or abusive environments have created coping mechanisms to deal with the stress. That environment can be detrimental to their ability to learn in an academic environment. Children who have been abused or shaken can have their brain damaged. Blows to the head can limit brain plasticity damaging the brain architecture and making it harder to learn. The early formative years have a tremendous impact on the brain's architecture. When brains are correctly structured it's easier to learn, grow and adapt to new environments.
